Overview

  • By May 31 the pet food bank program had provided 298,681 meals, marking an increase of 4,180 over last year and feeding over 20,000 animals in 2025.
  • As of May 31 demand spanned all regions, with more than 7,000 pets served in the Thompson Okanagan and over 6,600 in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
  • A drop in public donations has stretched the organization’s budget at the same time that rising pet food prices increase operational costs.
  • The Ian and Rosemary Mottershead Fund is offering to triple match donations up to $35,000 to help alleviate the shortfall.
  • The organization is calling for unopened dry and wet cat food, cat litter and volunteer help with collection and distribution to sustain the program.
