Overview

  • Roughly 130,000 British Columbians who earned minimum wage or less in 2024 will receive the 2.6% pay bump.
  • The increase also applies to app-based delivery and ride-hail drivers, live-in home-support aides and camp leaders.
  • Hand-harvester piece rates will rise by 2.6% on Dec. 31 to prevent mid-season wage disruptions for crop producers.
  • Living Wage BC is urging the province to mandate a living wage in procurement contracts, highlighting that one in three workers earn below regional living-wage rates of $23.79 to $28.09 per hour.
  • The Greater Langley Chamber warns that sustained annual hikes and rising input costs are straining small businesses and could push the minimum above $20 per hour within five years.
