Overview
- Provincial mortality from unregulated drugs is tracking at 32.3 deaths per 100,000 in 2025, down about 31% from 46.8 in 2023.
 - Fentanyl or its analogs were detected in 84% of tested deaths, underscoring the ongoing risk in the illicit supply.
 - Vancouver leads year-to-date city totals with 314 deaths, followed by Surrey at 137 and Greater Victoria at 93.
 - Men account for 78% of deaths and 69% were ages 30 to 59, with nearly half of fatalities occurring in private homes and 21% outdoors.
 - Overdose prevention and supervised consumption sites logged 77,685 visits in September with 151 overdoses attended, and only one site death has ever been recorded in B.C. (in 2022).
