BBC to Put Team of the Year to Live Public Vote at Sports Personality Awards
Organisers cite a standout year for home nations' team success to justify letting viewers decide.

- The 2025 show will be broadcast live from MediaCityUK in Salford on Thursday 18 December at 19:00 GMT on BBC One, iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.
- For the first time, the Team of the Year will be decided by a live public vote during the programme, whereas previously only the main Sports Personality prize was chosen on the night.
- Shortlists for Sports Personality and Team of the Year will be announced in December, with all voting to take place online at bbc.co.uk/spoty once they are published.
