  • The BBC Radiophonic Workshop's archive, known for its groundbreaking audio work on shows like 'Doctor Who' and 'The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,' is now available as a virtual instrument library.
  • The collaboration between BBC Studios and Spitfire Audio provides access to thousands of sounds, including original recordings, tape loops, and experimental audio techniques.
  • The library also features newly recorded material from former Workshop members and recreations of vintage equipment like modular synthesizers and tape machines.
  • The archive showcases the innovative methods used by the Workshop, such as creating sounds with milk bottles, lampshades, and manipulated tape recordings, which influenced electronic music pioneers like Brian Eno and Hans Zimmer.
  • The digital library is available for purchase at an introductory price of £119/€143/$159 until March 17, after which it will cost £149/€179/$199.
