Overview

  • The subscription costs $8.99 per month or $49.99 per year and grants unlimited access to news articles, feature stories and the 24/7 BBC News channel livestream.
  • Users who do not subscribe will keep access to select global breaking news, BBC Radio 4 and World Service livestreams, and free newsletters and podcasts.
  • A dynamic paywall assesses how much readers engage with content to determine who is prompted to subscribe, letting casual visitors browse without charge.
  • UK licence fee payers traveling in the United States can still stream BBC content through the BBC News app, and the broadcaster has no plans to introduce the paywall outside North America.
  • BBC plans to expand its premium offering with ad-free documentary series, films and early-release podcasts as it seeks to offset falling UK licence fee revenue.
