Overview
- Directed by Arthur Cary and produced by Passion Pictures for BBC Arts, the film will be distributed globally by Fremantle as part of Arena’s 50th anniversary slate.
- New interviews include Paul McCartney, his brother Mike McCartney, Klaus Voormann, Elvis Costello, and members of the Lost Bass Project.
- The documentary follows the corrected timeline showing the bass was stolen in 1972, later found in a south coast attic, authenticated by Höfner, and returned in 2024.
- McCartney bought the Höfner in Hamburg in 1961 for £30, and it was used on early Beatles recordings such as Love Me Do, She Loves You, and Twist and Shout.
- No release date has been announced, and McCartney recently played the recovered instrument at London’s O2 in December.
