ÖBB to End BerlinParis Night Train in December 2025

France’s withdrawal of 2026 backing for night trains triggers the cut.

Overview

  • ÖBB confirmed the BerlinParis Nightjet will stop running on 14 December 2025, roughly two years after its launch in December 2023.
  • Le Monde reported that the transport ministry ended state support for 2026, and an SNCF official stressed the service could not be maintained at a loss for symbolic reasons.
  • The ParisVienna overnight route is also reported to be slated for discontinuation as French partners exit the joint operation.
  • Deutsche Bahn referred questions to SNCF, which pointed to the transport ministry, and officials offered no immediate comment.
  • ÖBB says it will remain Europe’s largest night‑train operator with 24 new Nightjet trains to bolster other routes, while daytime ICE services still link Berlin and Paris.
