• On June 8, Grant Herridge, 18, slipped on wet rocks above Sol Duc Falls in Olympic National Park and fell 50 feet.
• Rescue teams faced high river flows that delayed recovery until a ranger found his body pinned between the first and second falls the next day.
• The Vanguard College Preparatory graduate had planned a seven-park road trip and looked forward to attending Baylor University in the fall.
• Baylor University launched the Grant Herridge Memorial Scholarship to honor his adventurous spirit and support incoming students.
