Baylor AD Mack Rhoades Takes Leave, Steps Down as College Football Playoff Committee Chair

Baylor says it is investigating new allegations that do not involve Title IX, NCAA rules or student welfare.

Overview

  • Rhoades initiated a personal leave effective Nov. 12 and relinquished his role on the CFP selection committee, according to Baylor and the CFP.
  • Baylor named Jovan Overshown and Cody Hall as co-interim athletic directors to run the department during Rhoades' absence.
  • The university says the current probe is separate from a Sept. 20 sideline/postgame incident, which Baylor previously reviewed and closed after taking unspecified actions.
  • With Rhoades and earlier departure Randall McDaniel unavailable, the CFP is operating with 11 members during the late-season rankings process.
  • The Big 12 has recommended Utah AD Mark Harlan to fill the committee seat, and Yahoo Sports reports Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek is being nominated to serve as chair.
