Baylor AD Mack Rhoades Takes Leave as CFP Elevates Hunter Yurachek and Adds Mark Harlan

The CFP filled the leadership gap quickly to keep weekly rankings and December selections on track.

Overview

  • Baylor said Rhoades began a leave of absence on Nov. 12 for personal reasons, and he has stepped down as College Football Playoff selection committee chair.
  • The university confirmed it is reviewing new allegations that do not involve Title IX, student welfare, NCAA rules or the football program; Rhoades said he initiated the leave and declined to explain further.
  • The CFP Management Committee appointed Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek as chair effective immediately for the rest of the season.
  • Utah athletic director Mark Harlan was approved to fill Rhoades’ seat on the selection committee, returning the group to 12 active members with Randall McDaniel still on leave.
  • Baylor designated Jovan Overshown and Cody Hall as co-interim athletic directors while the internal investigation proceeds.
