The injury to de Ligt occurred during Bayern Munich's unexpected 2-1 German Cup loss to third-tier Saarbruecken. De Ligt was taken off in the 24th minute of the game, and it's anticipated that he will miss several of Bayern's upcoming games.
Coach Thomas Tuchel suggested that de Ligt's injury was a repeat of a knee injury that occurred in September, which kept him out of play for three weeks. More clarity on the extent of the injury is expected after a clinical assessment.
