• Club officials unveiled a bronze monument outside the stadium on Friday, one day after what would have been Beckenbauer’s 80th birthday following his death in January 2024.
• Created by artist Matilde Romagnoli, the 1.5-times-life-size figure shows Beckenbauer in his signature libero pose with his right foot on the ball.
• The statue stands beside the existing monument to Gerd Müller on the Allianz Arena esplanade, linking two of Bayern’s most iconic figures.
• Beckenbauer’s widow, Heidi, joined Bayern president Herbert Hainer and former greats at the ceremony, where Hainer called the work “a piece of FC Bayern’s DNA, cast in bronze.”
• The installation complements recent honors that include retiring his No. 5 shirt, renaming the stadium’s address to Franz-Beckenbauer-Platz 5, and rebranding the German Supercup in his name.
