Bayern Munich Signs Sacha Boey in Record Winter Transfer

The French right-back, bought for an initial €30 million, is expected to bolster Bayern's defense as they chase Bundesliga leader Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich has signed right-back Sacha Boey from Galatasaray for an initial €30 million ($32.5 million) plus €5 million ($5.4 million), making it the most expensive winter signing in Bayern’s history.
Boey, a 23-year-old French defender, is expected to become Bayern's first-choice right back as the club tries to catch Bundesliga leader Bayer Leverkusen.
Boey's signing comes after Bayern sold Benjamin Pavard to Inter Milan and loaned out Josip Stanisic to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer without signing a replacement, making the recruitment of a new right-back a significant priority for Bayern this winter.
Bayern's sporting director, Christoph Freund, praised Boey as a quick and physically strong right-back who covers a lot of ground in every game and doesn't shy away from any tackles.
Boey is Bayern’s second signing this month after bringing in central defender Eric Dier on loan from Tottenham.
