Bayern Cancels Südkurve Tickets After UEFA Orders Partial Closure for Jan. 21 Champions League Match

The move follows a €50,000 UEFA sanction over repeated pyrotechnics in the stand.

Overview

  • UEFA’s disciplinary panel ordered the closure of blocks 111–114 in the Allianz Arena’s Südkurve for Bayern’s Jan. 21 home match against Union Saint-Gilloise.
  • FC Bayern announced that all tickets for blocks 109–117 have been canceled and will be refunded, so Südkurve tickets will not grant entry for this fixture.
  • The club cited technical limits in its ticketing system, under which 9,336 tickets cover blocks 109–117 and do not allow targeted cancellation of roughly 4,800 tickets in blocks 111–114.
  • Bayern said sections 109–110 and 115–117 could be relisted later, with details to be communicated if that proceeds.
  • The punishment stems from repeated pyrotechnic use, most recently on Dec. 9 against Sporting, activating a previously suspended sanction and following warnings from CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
