Overview

• The deep depression crossed the Odisha coast near Gopalpur late Thursday and weakened to a depression over interior Odisha by Friday, with heavy rain continuing under red, orange and yellow alerts.
• Odisha authorities reported multiple landslides in Gajapati, confirming one death and two missing, severed road links and ongoing rescue operations after two days of intense rain.
• Kolkata saw rain-disrupted Vijaya Dashami and temporary waterlogging as the IMD forecast heavy to very heavy rain across coastal and south Bengal and the sub-Himalayan districts through the weekend.
