Bay Bridge Run Canceled for Sunday as MDTA Cites Inclement Weather

Wet-weather safety rules that bar two-way bridge operations prompted the decision.

Overview

  • The Chesapeake Bay Bridge will remain open to normal vehicle traffic on Sunday instead of the planned race-related lane closures.
  • Forecasters projected a 45% chance of rain during the 8–10 a.m. race window, and MDTA does not implement two-way traffic operations in inclement weather.
  • Organizers said the event will not be rescheduled, with 2026 priority and discounted registration offered to this year’s registrants.
  • Add-on purchases such as beer bands and parking passes will be refunded, and checked-bag pickup is available at the Anne Arundel Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to noon.
  • The 10K typically draws roughly 17,000–18,000 participants and supports the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department and other charities.
