Bay Area Braces for Dramatic Temperature Drop After Record Heat

Following a heatwave with temperatures reaching triple digits, the Bay Area will experience a significant cooldown starting Wednesday.

Temperatures soared into the 90s and 100s across the Bay Area on Monday, breaking several same-day records.
A heat advisory remains in effect for East Bay interior valleys and hills until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Wednesday will see temperatures drop by 10-15 degrees, returning to seasonal averages.
The cooldown is attributed to a high-pressure system moving east and a trough of low pressure building off the California coast.
Another brief warm-up is expected on Friday, but temperatures will moderate again over the weekend.
