Baxter Avenue Theatres to Close Dec. 31 as ValuMarket Plans Spring Exit From Mid City Mall

The theater’s owners say developers have not indicated a place for the cinema in redevelopment plans.

  • ValuMarket’s manager said the grocery expects to shut down in May 2026 to wind down before its lease ends in June.
  • Mid City Mall has been on the market since November 2024 and is owned by Bardstown Road Investment Co. and the David A. Metts Irrevocable Term Trust, with a tax assessment of $11.4 million.
  • Other shifts include Ramen House relocating, Nearly New Shop and Back Door Bar closing, and the Highlands-Shelby Park Library remaining through June 2026.
