Bavaria’s Airports Extend Recovery in H1 2025 as Passengers Rise 4.9%

State data show an uneven rebound, with smaller airports accelerating as Munich remains the volume leader.

  • The three commercial airports handled about 23.4 million passengers in the first half, according to the Bavarian statistics office.
  • Takeoffs and landings increased 4.9% to just under 186,000 across Munich, Nuremberg and Memmingen.
  • Freight and post volumes grew 7.5% to a little over 162,000 tonnes across the Bavarian network.
  • Munich counted roughly 19.8 million travelers, 157,119 movements and a 7.7% rise in cargo and post to 160,736 tonnes.
  • Nuremberg reached about 1.9 million passengers with 16,289 movements up 8.9%, while Memmingen led growth proportionally with nearly 1.7 million passengers (+14.7%) and 12,579 movements (+16.8%).
