Overview
- In Unterallgäu, about 68,000 Kreistag ballots with unreadable barcodes are being replaced at the printer’s expense, with only minor mailing delays reported.
- Municipalities corrected other mistakes such as misspelled names in Kissing, incorrect instructions in Gersthofen and circulated sample ballots in Inchenhofen by invalidating faulty documents and issuing replacements.
- Mail voting has climbed to roughly 28–34 percent in several Augsburg-area towns, with Bad Wörishofen already logging about 5,200 requests out of 14,000 voters and Bad Tölz counting 4,651 to date.
- Munich’s election office advises posting ballot envelopes by Wednesday, 4 March, then using city drop boxes from 5 March, with final collections at 18:00 on election day; late arrivals will not be counted.
- To speed counting and reduce input errors, Munich will pilot a digital ballot-capture workflow in part of District 19 that pre-checks validity and assigns an ID to each paper ballot.
