Overview
- Hospitals, contracted physician practices and medical care centers across Bavaria may offer confidential evidence collection from November 1 with anonymized billing to statutory health insurers.
- The service had previously been limited to the forensic institutes at LMU Munich and the University of Würzburg.
- Participating facilities can request examination materials starting in November, with costs for the kits covered by the Bavarian Ministry of Health.
- Providers are asked to register with the regionally responsible forensic institute: LMU Munich for Oberbayern, Niederbayern, Oberpfalz and Schwaben, and Würzburg for Unter-, Mittel- and Oberfranken.
- Health Minister Judith Gerlach urged broad participation to ensure local access, noting many victims delay contacting police and early trace preservation can support later proceedings.
