Overview

  • VerbraucherService Bayern’s July 17 advisory remains in force with no new regulations enacted.
  • Children under five are advised to avoid commercial slush after approximately 100–200 milliliters can trigger symptoms like headaches, nausea and diarrhea due to unregulated glycerin.
  • Products containing synthetic dyes such as tartrazine (E102), allura red (E129) and sunset yellow (E110) must carry warnings that they may affect children’s activity and attention.
  • Many slush-Eis varieties contain above-average sugar levels, leading experts to urge consumers to check labels and choose lower-sugar options.
  • The advisory includes a recipe for homemade slush-Eis using fresh fruit, honey, lemon juice and water as a healthier alternative.
