Overview

• The first emergency call came in around 11:00 a.m. for a blaze in the basement of a mixed residential and commercial building in Gröpelingen.
• Breathing-apparatus teams located the fire source in the cellar and brought the situation under control swiftly.
• Fire and rescue stations 1 and 5 responded alongside the volunteer brigade Bremen-Burgdamm.
• Residents evacuated on their own with help from neighbors as dense smoke was seen coming from the building.
• Nearly at the same time, crews from stations 2 and 3 extinguished a separate kitchen fire in Neue Vahr.
