Barry Jenkins Joins Zendaya for Ronnie Spector Biopic 'Be My Baby'

Barry Jenkins, the Oscar-winning director of 'Moonlight,' has been confirmed to direct the Ronnie Spector biopic 'Be My Baby.'
Zendaya, hand-picked by Spector before her passing in 2022, will star as the legendary Ronettes singer and co-produce the film.
The screenplay, written by Dave Kajganich, will adapt Spector's 1990 memoir and focus on her abusive marriage to Phil Spector and her journey to reclaim her life and career.
A24 is producing the film alongside Jenkins' Pastel partners and other collaborators, continuing its reputation for prestige cinema.
Casting for Phil Spector and other key roles has yet to be announced as the project remains in pre-production.
