Barkley is set to be a free agent after the current season and the potential for a trade could bring advantages both for him and for the Giants. However, Barkley denied considering this option saying it's not crossing his mind.
Barkley, 26, hasn't discussed any trade-related matters with his personal team and the Giants also maintain the option of using the franchise tag for a second consecutive year.
Barkley was the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL draft by the Giants. He has 207 rushing yards and a touchdown on 53 carries this season, having missed three games due to a high ankle sprain.
Although Barkley and the Giants failed to agree on a long-term deal, leading to an adjusted franchise tag, Barkley wishes to focus on improving the team's performance, especially considering the Giants' current 1-5 standing.
