Overview
- TMB has equipped 14 bus stops with Buspas technology to capture real-time conditions in bays, detect bus-lane blockages, and track rider patterns.
- The smart-stop pilot runs for one year with a budget of €97,200, of which 80% is funded by Barcelona City Council, with results to be assessed after completion.
- An autonomous Karsan e-ATAK using ADASTEC’s FLOWRIDE system operates in Montjuïc from November 4–14 on a 1.8 km loop with six stops, offering free rides from 09:00 to 19:00.
- The autonomous-bus trial is authorized by Spain’s DGT under the national automated-vehicles program, and a safety driver remains on board as required despite the vehicle’s Level 4 capability.
- The Buspas solution won the Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility challenge, and its AI counts patterns without recording faces to comply with privacy regulations.
