Barcelona Launches 2026–2030 Bus Agenda With Five-Minute H12 Core From Jan. 26

The plan concentrates service in high-demand corridors to quicken trips, aiming to shift riders from private cars.

Overview

  • From January 26, eight added buses will run only between Glòries and Plaça Cerdà on the H12, lifting capacity about 15% and delivering five-minute headways in the central stretch.
  • Passengers on central-only H12 vehicles will need to transfer at Glòries or Plaça Cerdà to continue to the ends of the line, while frequencies on the outer sections remain roughly every 7–8 minutes.
  • Three express routes are planned this year to link the center with city entry points, including a Meridiana service from Montcada and a direct connection from Marina del Prat Vermell.
  • City Hall commits to 12 km of new bus lanes with another 12 km under study, and it is analyzing double bus lanes and new interurban terminals on the four main access corridors.
  • TMB is piloting traffic-signal priority on the H12 and a “red carpet” right-turn priority marking, backed by €8 million per year to add 25 buses and expand the zero‑emission fleet.
