Barcelona Judge Indicts Alleged Raval Ring Leader in Second Case Involving Seven Minors

Police-corroborated videos are now the pivotal evidence moving the case toward a trial next year.

Overview

  • The Investigating Court No. 7 of Barcelona has formally processed Teófilo Lapeña Martínez on charges including sexual assault of minors, inducement to prostitution, and production and distribution of child sexual abuse material for offenses dated 2016 to 2022.
  • Seized recordings and images identified by Mossos d'Esquadra place the suspect in multiple assaults and document online dissemination through social networks and messaging channels.
  • A second defendant, identified as F. M. A. E. O., is also processed and appears in videos with victims, while four other suspects have been provisionally exculpated due to a lack of evidence of specific assaults.
  • Several victims were 14 or 15 years old, some abuse stretched over years, and at least one episode is described by the judge as especially degrading in a sadomasochistic setting.
  • In a separate principal case, prosecutors seek 107 years over repeated assaults of a girl under regional care beginning at age 12, with that trial set for next year before the Barcelona Provincial Court.
