Overview
- Barcelona beat Real Betis 5-2 at La Cartuja on Saturday to record their ninth straight LaLiga win to start the 2026/27 season.
- The team has scored 39 goals and conceded nine through nine matches, producing a +30 goal difference that matches a long-standing benchmark.
- The nine-win run equals Real Madrid's 1968–69 start, while the 39 goals are the second-highest nine-match total in LaLiga history behind Sevilla in 1940–41.
- Barcelona top the table on 27 points, five clear of Atlético Madrid, a margin that gives them control of the early title race and raises expectations for the squad and coach Hansi Flick.
- Next weekend's El Clásico presents the immediate chance to break the nine-win record and analysts' season-long scoring projections, such as a 163-goal extrapolation, remain speculative rather than predictive.
