Overview

  • The exercise triggered 50 sirens across 22 municipalities at 10:00 AM and delivered Es-alert notifications to mobile phones marking the start and end of the drill.
  • Protecció Civil involved 73 high-risk chemical facilities and coordinated with 54 schools where about 19,000 students practised indoor confinement.
  • Key industrial hubs including Mercabarna, Zona Franca, the Port of Barcelona, ZAL Port and Seat Martorell were brought into the test area.
  • Citizens were instructed to seek refuge inside the nearest building to simulate real emergency shelter-in-place procedures.
  • Findings from the post-drill survey will guide improvements to notification protocols and infrastructure for future chemical alerts.
