Overview
- The AMB Metropolitan Council approved the 2026 update on November 25 for 23 municipalities served by Aigües de Barcelona, with PSC, Junts and ERC voting in favor, PP and Vox opposed, and several groups abstaining.
- The 2.88% increase falls just short of the 3.10% requested by Aigües de Barcelona, which projects 2026 operating expenses at about €354 million and higher purchase costs from ATL.
- A drought-related investment fund rises to €8 million, while existing social tariffs and consumption blocks remain, with the AMB expecting around 70,000 families to be covered by late 2026.
- In six other AMB municipalities with different operators, tariffs will climb by 5.8%, according to the metropolitan authority.
