Baramulla Police Attach Properties of Two PoK-Based Proclaimed Offenders

Ordered by a special UAPA court, the move applies CrPC Section 88 to cut property access for cross-border handlers.

Overview

  • The attachment follows court order No. 122/ASJ/BLA/UAPA dated September 2 in FIR No. 03/2008 registered at Police Station Pattan under EIMCO, RPC Section 121, and UAPA Section 19.
  • The properties belong to Mohammad Maqbool Sheikh and Mohammad Rafiq Tantray of Tantraypora Palhallan, both stated by police to be in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
  • Land measuring 3 kanals 15 marlas (Survey No. 1947/1767) of Sheikh and 4 kanals 17 marlas (Survey Nos. 1763/1584/2395) of Tantray was identified, demarcated, and formally proclaimed.
  • Police executed the proceedings with Revenue Department assistance under Section 88 of the CrPC and said further identifications and attachments will continue as per law.
  • In related actions, Baramulla Police reported a recent hideout bust with an arms seizure, and Budgam Police attached a Humhama house of alleged drug peddler Sahil Yousuf Bhat valued around Rs 50 lakh under NDPS provisions.
