Banks Will Close for Five Consecutive Days in Argentina

In-person banking will pause because authorities declared holidays for the papal visit plus annual sector observances.

Overview

  • Banks will not offer in-person service from Friday 6 November through Tuesday 10 November, and most branches are scheduled to resume on Wednesday 11 November.
  • The central bank formalized Tuesday 10 November as a nationwide banking holiday with Comunicación “A” 8487, while the national government declared Monday 9 November a holiday for Pope León XIV’s visit.
  • Electronic channels such as ATMs, mobile apps, home banking, cards and digital wallets will remain available but some transactions may only settle on the next business day.
  • Local and provincial measures create variation in who gets extra days off; examples include municipal and provincial non-working days and Resolución 516/2026 listing specific towns with additional closures.
  • In Peru, 5 November is a paid non-working day for municipal workers under Ley 31701 and Decreto Supremo N.º 020-2026-TR sets region-specific non-working days tied to the papal visit, so workers and customers should check the rules that apply to their workplace.
