Bank Manager and Cashier Drown in Flooded Faridabad Underpass

The SUV carrying the two HDFC Bank employees became submerged in waterlogged underpass amid heavy rains in Delhi-NCR.

Punyashreya Sharma, a bank manager, and Viraj Dwivedi, a cashier, were returning home from Gurugram when they drove into the flooded underpass.
Despite warnings and barricades, the SUV entered the Old Faridabad Railway underpass, which was inundated due to continuous heavy rainfall.
Rescue efforts were launched immediately, but Sharma was found dead inside the vehicle and Dwivedi's body was recovered after an hours-long search.
Heavy rains have caused severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions across Delhi-NCR, with Faridabad recording rainfall significantly above normal levels.
The incident highlights ongoing issues with civic infrastructure in NCR, where underpasses frequently flood during monsoon seasons, leading to dangerous conditions.
