Bank Account Required for German Pension Payments From December 2025

Deutsche Post is discontinuing the Postbank cash service as part of a security-focused digital shift.

Overview

  • Deutsche Post confirmed the ZzV cash payout ends at year‑end 2025, moving all statutory pensions to SEPA transfers.
  • Letters have gone to the roughly 3,300 remaining cash recipients instructing them to provide account details by December 31, 2025.
  • Payments without a valid account will be temporarily withheld, with all accrued amounts paid retroactively once a SEPA connection is reported.
  • Pensioners without an account can open an EU Basiskonto or designate a trusted person’s EU/SEPA account to receive transfers.
  • Bank details must be submitted using the Rentenservice form "Antrag auf unbare Zahlung einer Rente" and mailed to Deutsche Post AG, Niederlassung Renten Service, 13497 Berlin.
