Overview
- Viral social media posts falsely credited the DIY ultralight plane to a Muzaffarpur teenager who allegedly built it in a week for ₹7,000.
- Reverse-image and original-source checks identified the footage as a March 4 test flight in Bangladesh by 28-year-old electronic mechanic Julhas Molla.
- Molla spent roughly four years and about 8 lakh taka constructing the 100-kilogram ultralight from aluminium, stainless steel, iron and a 7-hp water pump engine.
- During its successful trial, the aircraft reached 50 feet altitude, flew at up to 70 km/h and achieved fuel efficiency of one litre per 25–30 km.
- Following the debunking, the Manikganj deputy commissioner announced government grants; US-Bangla Airlines pledged technical and financial assistance.
