Bangladesh CID Publishes Notice Declaring Sheikh Hasina, 260 Others Fugitives in Sedition Case

An ICT verdict in a separate crimes-against-humanity case is scheduled for November 13.

  • The CID says it filed a chargesheet naming 286 individuals after forensic analysis of data from servers, social media and other digital platforms.
  • Investigators opened the sedition probe with Home Affairs approval under Section 196 of the Criminal Procedure Code and allege activities via the Joy Bangla Brigade to topple the government.
  • The Joy Bangla Brigade describes itself as backing Hasina and her father’s legacy and hosts content attacking interim leader Muhammad Yunus.
