Overview

  • The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed the 27-year-old all-rounder as one-day captain, replacing Najmul Hossain Shanto in that format.
  • Under the new split-captaincy system, Shanto remains Test captain while Liton Das continues to lead the T20I side.
  • Miraz has amassed 1,617 runs and 110 wickets in 105 ODIs and is ranked No. 4 among ICC’s ODI all-rounders.
  • He has previously captained Bangladesh in four ODIs and served as vice-captain of the Test squad for the current World Test Championship cycle.
  • The change follows a disappointing Champions Trophy campaign as Bangladesh seek to rebuild their ODI performance.
