Banco Nación Reverses Erroneous Credits After Technical Glitch Floods Accounts With Up to ARS 700,000

The state-run bank says a miscalculation in remunerated accounts produced unexpected “REND.” deposits that will be debited as systems are corrected.

Overview

  • Unexpected credits commonly around ARS 699,177.82 appeared under REND. PESO and, in some cases, REND. USD with amounts reported up to about US$370.
  • The issue disproportionately affected public-sector payees using Banco Nación, including staff of the Chamber of Deputies, the judiciary, the penitentiary service and universities.
  • Internal notices and union advisories told recipients not to use the money, warning that reversals could trigger overdrafts and automatic interest charges.
  • Banco Nación acknowledged a technical error tied to miscalculated yields on remunerated accounts, began rolling back entries and has not disclosed the number of affected customers.
  • Some clients spent the deposits before alerts went out, creating case-by-case risk as debits are processed when banking operations resume on Friday.
