Baltimore Running Festival to Close Downtown Streets Starting Friday Night

City transportation officials urge travel outside the race footprint, with Metro SubwayLink recommended as an unaffected option.

Overview

  • Pratt Street between Charles and Light streets closes at 9 p.m. Friday and remains shut until late Saturday afternoon, with additional no-parking and lane restrictions rolling out overnight.
  • Commercial vehicles are prohibited in core downtown corridors from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, including stretches of Fayette, President, Light, Key Highway, Hanover, Pratt and Lombard streets.
  • Charm City Circulator’s Orange, Green, Purple and Banner routes will not operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
  • Drivers are advised to avoid the race footprint by staying north of 33rd Street, south of McComas Street, west of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and east of Highland Avenue.
  • More than 14,000 runners are expected, with races starting between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., and overlapping protests and a post-race Penn Station dance party are expected to add to delays.
