Overview

• Baltimore police are seeking 55-year-old Charles Anthony Boatwright, who is wanted in connection with a July killing in Southwest Baltimore.
• Investigators say the victim, 56-year-old Randolph Smith, was shot on July 13 in the 3900 block of Frederick Avenue and later died at a hospital.
• Boatwright had been held in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, as a fugitive, but was released this week after no Maryland governor’s warrant arrived within the legally allowed period.
• The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office said the extradition case was continued twice after the initial 30-day hold, then the extradition warrant was dismissed because a governor’s warrant was never filed.
