Baltimore Kicks Off 50th Anniversary Pride Celebration With Weeklong Events

Baltimore’s community organizations are offering themed products to raise funds for LGBTQ+ causes.

Overview

  • Baltimore’s 50th Pride began on June 12 under the “50 Shades of Pride” theme, marking five decades of LGBTQ+ visibility in the city.
  • Thursday’s Open Works flag workshop and Friday’s Mount Vernon street festival precede Jennifer Holliday’s “Twilight on the Terrace” concert at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center.
  • Saturday’s parade starts at 11 a.m. on Charles Street and North Avenue, leading into a block party at Charles and 29th streets headlined by rapper Lola Brooke.
  • Sunday’s Pride in the Park at Druid Hill Park will feature performances by Durand Bernarr and Kelly Price alongside the weekend’s High Heel Race.
  • Local businesses including Guinness Open Gate Brewery and THB Bakery have released Pride-themed beer and bagels benefiting LGBTQ+ organizations, and county and ballpark Pride events follow later this month.
