Ábalos’s Ex-Wife Goes Public on Telecinco With New Allegations in ‘Caso Koldo

A Madrid judge allowed the broadcast to proceed despite Ábalos’s late bid to stop it.

Overview

  • Carolina Perles said Koldo García acted as a ‘topo’ for former PSOE organizer Santos Cerdán to keep her then husband under control.
  • Perles hinted that José Luis Ábalos could have money outside Spain, cited frequent trips after leaving office, and pointed to cash she said he carried, including a photo shown by the program.
  • She alleged episodes of mistreatment during the marriage, including an arm injury in a struggle she did not report to police escorts.
  • Ábalos asked the Supreme Court judge to summon Perles and sought to block or delay the show, then withdrew part of his request, and an investigating court declined to halt the airing.
  • The probe remains active with Ábalos under investigation for bribery, influence peddling and embezzlement, and UCO agents previously seized 34 devices from him, with sources reporting a hard drive held recordings and documents related to Perles.
