Balochistan CTD Ties BYC to Youth Recruitment, Announces Panjgur Arrests and Major Arms Seizure

Officials cite forensic leads plus detainees’ backgrounds to support allegations of militant grooming through protests.

Overview

  • CTD officials said they arrested Turbat resident Sajid Ahmad, also known as Shahwaiz, during a Panjgur operation while he was traveling toward Turbat.
  • Authorities reported seizing a large cache from Sajid’s vehicle, including an RPG, five rockets, two M-16 rifles with 23 magazines and 800 rounds, 20 grenades, 30 C4 slabs, remote controls, 13 UBGL rounds, detonating cord, a compass, helmets, and a suicide jacket.
  • The CTD alleged Sajid had links to the BLF and BLA and was in communication with BYC leadership, noting he holds a sociology master’s degree and previously taught at local colleges and the University of Turbat.
  • Investigators said mobile and forensic analysis yielded reconnaissance details for sites in Turbat, including the CTD complex, routes to Turbat Airport, and an under-construction high court building.
  • Officials said three additional suspects were detained, identifying teenagers accused of reconnaissance and recruitment roles and alleging that one courier moved extortion funds and medicines, as the CTD advances FIR registrations under a framework that labels local militant outfits as “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
