Balmoral Castle Opens to Public for First Time

King Charles's landmark decision to open the royal residence comes as tickets sell out quickly and amid health challenges within the royal family.

King Charles III opens Balmoral Castle, a private Scottish residence of the British royal family, to the public for the first time, offering intimate tours.
Tickets for the historic tours, scheduled between June 1 and August 11, sold out within a day of release.
The opening of royal residences, including the East Wing of Buckingham Palace, comes amid health battles within the royal family, including cancer diagnoses for King Charles and Princess Kate.
The tours will showcase parts of the castle and estate previously inaccessible to the public, including the ballroom where Queen Elizabeth II lay in rest.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to view King Charles's watercolor artworks and enjoy traditional afternoon tea at the onsite restaurant.
