Baja California en Los Pinos Concludes with Final Day of Performances

The two-day event closes with workshops, exhibitions, the continued development of a justice plan for Yuman communities

Overview

  • The festival’s final day runs until 5 p.m. in the Plaza Jacarandas at Centro Cultural Los Pinos, offering free access to art, dance, music and food activities
  • Highlights include Lizeth Marcela’s storytelling of Baja California legends, Alejandro Chávez’s contemporary dance “Manuel,” Jesús Bautista’s rock-pop concert “Me verás subir” and Minerva Velasco’s dramatized reading “Frida Kahlo: Viva la vida”
  • Visitors can explore the photography exhibition “Jaspuypaim: Los jamás bautizados,” shop artisan crafts and sample Yuman dishes such as conejo in salvia blanca, birria and atole de bellota
  • The showcase spotlights four of the five Yuman tribes and supports the two-year Plan de Justicia de los Pueblos Yumanos, which aims to address historical inequities
  • Presented under the México en Los Pinos initiative in the Year of the Indigenous Woman, the festival promotes interregional cultural exchange and indigenous visibility
