Bail Refused for 19-Year-Old L-Plater After Alleged 168km/h Police Chase With Baby on Board

The magistrate cited community risk following police allegations of a high-speed pursuit on the Central Coast.

Overview

  • Police allege Kirsty Lee Parker, 19, drove at 168km/h on the M1 as a learner with a 10-month-old in the car and failed to stop.
  • The pursuit moved from Somersby toward Lake Macquarie, with spike strips twice avoided and a crash reported before the car was found abandoned in Windale.
  • Parker was arrested near the vehicle with four adults, the baby was located in the car, and police say the four passengers were later released without charge.
  • She faces charges including exceeding a learner limit by more than 45km/h, reckless driving, failing to comply with police directions, and seatbelt and unsafe passenger offences.
  • Bail was refused after a video-link hearing, the court heard she is 11 weeks pregnant and was sentenced earlier this week for shoplifting, and the case returns to Gosford Local Court on October 8.
