BAI Concludes First Para-Badminton Coaches Programme in Raipur

BAI positions the initiative as the foundation for a structured coaching pipeline to sustain India’s para-badminton gains.

Overview

The five-day grassroots course ran from December 16 to 20 in Raipur with coaches drawn from across India.
Dronacharya awardee Gaurav Khanna led the training as national head coach, with support from Murali Krishna.
The curriculum covered disability awareness, para-sport governance, classification, assistive equipment, coaching methodology, medical support, and event organisation.
BAI General Secretary Sanjay Mishra called the course a key step in strengthening the para-badminton ecosystem and indicated more programmes are planned.
The initiative follows India’s 18 medals at the 2024 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships and five medals at the 2024 Paralympics.
