Bahia Police Search Influencer’s Home and Boutique in Illegal Raffle and Money-Laundering Investigation

Forensic teams are analyzing seized devices to identify victims and determine the sums investigators say were funneled through her fashion business.

Overview

  • Two search-and-seizure warrants were executed Tuesday in Vitória da Conquista at an apartment in Alto da Boa Vista and a boutique on Avenida Lauro de Freitas.
  • Officers seized four cellphones, two computers and a tablet, and a judge ordered the freezing of bank accounts, financial applications and other assets.
  • Police say the influencer promoted online raffles and giveaways to more than 100,000 followers and laundered the proceeds through a clothing store.
  • The operation is led by the DRFR in Vitória da Conquista, part of Bahia’s DEIC, with warrants issued by the city’s 3rd Criminal Court.
  • Authorities identify the suspect by the handle “Lene Modas,” and local outlet A TARDE reported her name as Juscilene Nunes Bernas, 46, as the inquiry proceeds.
